Cora Sue Martin Egan, age 88, of Hillsboro, Kentucky, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, November 5, 2025.
Born January 14, 1937, in Rowan County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Ray James and Oleta Merle Fryman Martin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Egan; one brother, Edward Ray "Eddie Ray" Martin; and one sister, Judith Brooke "Brookie" Riddle.
Sue is survived by her seven children: Stephen Richard (Janet) Egan of Hillsboro; Mary Anna Pecco of Morehead; Lisa (Bobby) Rogers of Owingsville; Michael Barry Egan of Hillsboro; Rebecca Lynn (Danny) Purdy of Morehead; Jeffery Thomas (Teressa) Egan of Morehead; and Abigail Egan White of Morehead. Along with her children, she is survived by six siblings: Mary Ann Rowley of Bowling Green; Scott Martin of London; Ronald Martin of Morehead; Kay Ellington of Middletown, Ohio; Janie Tuney of Liberty Township; and Kerry Evans of Georgetown. Others to cherish her memory include 14 grandchildren,15 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
Sue was an avid homemaker who enjoyed reading, gardening, canning, and spending time outdoors. Most of all, Sue treasured her family. Throughout her life, she devoted herself to nurturing and caring for others. From an early age, Sue developed a strong work ethic while working on her parents' farm and caring for her younger siblings-a value she later instilled in her own children.
On March 18, 1954, she married Charles, and together they raised seven strong children, whom she nurtured with love and compassion. In her later years, Sue found great fulfillment in caring for her parents and helping with her grandchildren, especially Adam.
Sue dedicated her life to her family, a source of unwavering joy and pride. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and a woman whose kindness and devotion touched all who knew her.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Don Evans officiating.
Burial will follow at Mabry Cemetery, Cranston Road, in Morehead.
Pallbearers will be Sue's nine grandsons: Samuel Nathan Pecco, Kyle Nicholas Pecco, Jacob Egan, Justin Egan, Richard Rogers, Robert Rogers, Jason Egan, Bradley Newnam, and Adam Egan.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive,
Morehead, KY 40351.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in memory of Sue be made to the
Alzheimer's Association.
