Cora Belle Washington

Cora Belle Washington, 75, affectionately known as "Nanny Belle" entered eternal rest on Saturday, January 3, 2026. Cora was born in Welsh, LA on September 11, 1950, to the late Edith Keys Guillory and August Guillory. She was baptized at an early age at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Welsh, LA. and was a faithful member of Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church in Carencro, LA. Cora was a graduate of Mary Mcleod Bethune High School in Welsh, LA and was a member of the last graduating class before students were integrated into Welsh High School in 1969. Cora worked as a Restaurant Supervisor prior to her retirement.

Cora was married to the late George Issac Washington, Sr and to their union, two children were born, George Jr., and Theresa. Cora enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was a devoted member of the Knights of Peter Claver Ladies Auxiliary Court 48. After her retirement she devoted her free time to caring for her beloved grandchildren; Garionna, Tianna, and Lil Paul.

Cora is survived by her children, George Washington, Jr. of Welsh, LA., Theresa Goodie (Garian Sr.) of Carencro, LA, and Chrishonda Guillory, of Carencro, LA; her grandchildren, Garionna Goodie, Tianna Goodie, Garian Paul Goodie Jr. of Carencro, LA; her siblings, August Guillory, Kenneth Guillory, Irvine Guillory (Veronica), Christopher Guillory, Leon Guillory, Inez Guillory, Theresa Guillory and Mary Guillory.

Active pallbearers will be Paul Goodie Sr., Joseph Noel, Aydian Wilson, Albert Lewis, Devin Boudreaux, and Joe Boudreaux. Honorary pallbearers are George Washington Jr., August Guillory, Irvine Guillory, Leon Guillory, Christopher Guillory, and Kenneth Guillory.

Visiting with family and friends will be held in the Church Chapel at Semien-Lewis Mortuary from 5pm - 7pm on Friday, January 9, 2026, and will resume on Saturday, January 10, 2026 from 8:00 am to 8:50 am in the Church Chapel at Semien-Lewis Mortuary. A Rosary will be recited at 9:30 am Saturday, January 10, 2026, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Welsh, LA., pastored by Rev. Prabhakar Kowtiki, M.O.C. A Funeral Mass will be held in the church at 10:00 am with Reverend Monsignor Ronald Broussard officiating. Burial will follow in Bon Pasteur Cemetery in Welsh, LA under the direction of Semien-Lewis Mortuary.
