Corey Gene Powell, age 30, passed away on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, in the arms of his wife and surrounded by family after a brave and courageous battle with cancer at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. Born in Salisbury, Maryland, on October 17th, 1994, he was the son of Douglas Allen Powell, II (Deanna Outten) and Doris Marie Cook.
Corey was an avid fisherman, hunter and softball player, and would take any chance given to enjoy a quiet afternoon alone in his kayak. He was a part of his Dover Pools work family since 2016, with every co-worker and customer making their way into his heart. Corey was the source of laughter in any room he entered and made bringing a smile to everyones face his lifes mission.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Siarra Powell and their dog, Quacky, a sister, Katelyn Russ (James), his nieces and nephews: Aaliyah, Auldin, Cayden, Natalee, Willow and Helena, in-laws, Scott Elliott (Heather) and Sheri Brant (Troy), brother-in-law Wil Elliott, and sister-in-laws Shi Crawford (Dillion) and Charlotte Brant, grandmothers, Beverly Cook and Sandra Timmons, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and an abundance of friends he cared so deeply for.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Gene A Cook, Sr., an aunt, Deborah J. Barton, and his step-grandfather, Dory Timmons.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at 2:00PM, at The Burbage Funeral Home in Snow Hill. A viewing will be held one hour prior. Corey asked that anyone planning to attend the service wear their "Sunday Best". A reception will be held at 4:00PM at SonRise Church, located at 10026 Main St, Berlin, MD 21811. Letters of condolence can be sent to the funeral home via www.burbagefuneralhome.com.
