Cornelious Lewis Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McWhorter Funeral Home - Gilmer from Jan. 6 to Jan. 17, 2026.
Cornelious M. Lewis, lovingly known as "Corn Dog", passed away on January 3, 2026, in Hermiston, Oregon, at the age of 57. He was born on July 11, 1968, in Gladewater, Texas.

Cornelious was well known for his deep love of baseball. A proud Dixie League Champion, he went on to make his mark at his alma mater, Gilmer High School, earning the distinction of second in the state for stolen bases as a member of the Gilmer Buckeyes. His passion, discipline, and competitive spirit were evident both on and off the field throughout his life.

Cornelious was also a proud alumnus of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, where he formed lifelong bonds and upheld the values of brotherhood, service, and excellence.

He is survived by his parents, Emma and Eddie Smith; wife, Pamela Frick Lewis; brothers, Asa Stine and Anthony Stine; sister, Courtney Smith; children, Spencer Lewis, Chance Gunter, Rebekah Lewis, Mar'cella Lewis, and Kiante Frick, and wife, Krista Frick; grandchildren, Samya Lewis, Whitni Lewis, Nevaeh Perry, Trustin Davis, Cahya O'Quinn, Torion Lewis, Creed O'Quinn, Zion Lewis, Kianna Frick, Kortland Frick, and Kyrie Frick; and numerous nieces, nephews, and loving aunts and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Virgil and Dorothy Lewis; his granddaughter, Alaya Lewis; and his son, Corleone Lewis.

Cornelious believed in hard work and took pride in earning his way, a value he lived out daily through his work at Lamb Weston. He respected discipline, perseverance, and showing up to do the job, traits that defined much of his life. Those who knew him will remember his strong work ethic, his love of baseball, and the straightforward way he carried himself. Cornelious lived life on his own terms, and his legacy is found in the work he did, the passions he pursued, and the memories he leaves behind.

A Celebration of Life will be held on January 24, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at VFW Post 6715, 1484 VFW Rd., Gilmer, TX 75644. This gathering will honor Cornelious's life, love, and memories shared with family and friends.

Attendees are encouraged to wear orange or blue, in keeping with Cornelious's spirit and love for the Denver Broncos.
