Cornelis 'Case' Reintjes, 84, passed away on May 25, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. Born on November 17, 1939, Case lived a full life, putting God and family first.
Case was born in Veendam, Netherlands to Hubert and Egberdina. The family left the Netherlands for a better economic opportunity in June of 1955, when Case was 15 years old, and arrived in California after 14 days of traveling by bus, boat, taxi, train and finally private cars. Learning a good portion of his English from watching television (yes, Porky Pig and Elmer Fudd contributed), Case graduated from Garden Grove High School at the age of 17 and continued his education at Santa Ana College. He applied for and was hired at SPS Western as a toolmaker in 1959, making $1.70 an hour.
In 1961, after receiving notice from Uncle Sam to come in for a physical for the military draft, he signed up for 3 years with the Army and chose to serve in Europe, ultimately being stationed in Germany. Discharged from the Army in 1965, Case returned to SPS in Santa Ana, CA where he met a beautiful young woman by the name of Beverly Ann. They were married on June 3, 1967, in a Methodist church and moved into a small furnished apartment in Garden Grove. Saving their pennies, they were able to buy a brand new house in Irvine in 1969, and their daughter Lara was born in 1970, followed by Erin in 1973. Their family of four then moved to Dana Point, CA in 1976, where the family and grandchildren continue to spend quality time today. Case retired from SPS Technologies after 45 years, which is just one example of his loyal and hardworking character.
Case led and provided for his family well. Keeping Christ at the center, faith and prayer were at the forefront. Family was always of great importance and his 57 year marriage to the love of his life, and his love for his daughters and grandchildren were a testament to that. He rarely missed an event, performance, or sporting event that included his children or grandchildren. He and Beverly volunteered at the food pantry through Coast Hills Church on the military base for over 10 years. Their involvement in a small group Bible study, and Case's participation in a Men's Bible study resulted in friends and fellowship that were important to both Case and Beverly.
Case is survived by his wife Beverly; children Lara (Myron), and Erin (Jim); grandchildren Emma (Zane) and Jack; great-grandchild Hazel; brothers Koos and Lane; and many extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Dina; sisters Gretha and Swanee, brothers Marten and Dick.
Case will be remembered for his quiet, humble, kind and unassuming character; his faith in a gracious God; and his love and dedication to family. His words were few, but were never without wisdom.
"Whatever my lot, thou hast taught me to know It is well, it is well with my soul."
