Cornelius Allen Bottomley, Jr., "Allen, " age 54 of
Hanover, MA passed away surrounded by his loving family on September 13, 2024. Allen was born on December 18, 1969, to the late Dorothy Warnock Bottomley and Cornelius Allen Bottomley, Sr. in Boston, MA. After graduating Plymouth- Carver High School in 1988, Allen went on to earn a BA in Computer Science at Bucknell University in 1993. Allen graduated from the F.W. Olin School of Business at Babson College with his Master's in Business Administration in 2000.
Allen's strong work ethic was consistently evident in all of his endeavors, both personal and professional. After earning his undergraduate degree from Bucknell University, Allen worked for 6 years with his Dad, Neil, as Director of Operations for their company, Evaluation Associates in Plymouth, MA. After completing his MBA, Allen worked for a short time as a Financial Analyst at Send.com in Waltham, MA. He went on to spend 12 years at Fidelity Investments-Boston Coach where he held many positions. His final title at Boston Coach was Senior Vice President of Strategic Operations Analysis. Since 2015, Allen has been employed by Granite Telecommunications in Quincy, MA. His title was Vice President of Treasury and Financial Operations.
Allen is survived by his wife of 26 years, Jane (Connolly) Bottomley, and their two children, Cornelius Haraden Bottomley III, "Haraden," and McKenzie Jane Bottomley. Allen was immensely proud of Jane and his children. He loved watching his son and daughter as they grew into the amazing young adults they are today.
Allen also leaves behind his sister, Allison Bottomley Hughan, Brother-In-Law, Peter, and niece, Emmeline, of Norwell, MA. Allen was predeceased by his nephew, John William Hughan, of Norwell, MA.
Allen was known for his quick wit, boisterous laugh, kind heart, brilliant mind, and fierce loyalty to family and friends. He chose to surround himself with genuine, trustworthy, and intelligent people. His favorite activities included boating on Cape Cod, skiing in Vermont, and sitting contentedly at home with family in front of a beautiful fire.
Allen's greatest accomplishments in life included being an incredible father, loving husband, loyal son and brother, beloved uncle, Brother-In-Law, and loyal friend. His happiest moments were the ones he shared with family. Cooking and carving the turkey on Thanksgiving, choosing and cutting down the family Christmas tree each December, offering sage advice to family and friends, and managing to fix anything and everything broken in our home, Allen lived to promote joy and happiness for all those he loved.
Allen had an amazing ability to connect with people. His infectious laugh and sense of humor made even the most serious of life events bearable. Jane is quick to admit that the first thing that drew them to one another was their ability to make each other laugh. That laughter grew into a deep love, respect, and uncomplicated happiness rooted in just being together. To say that Allen will be missed by many is an extreme understatement. We are not sure how we will go on without you Allen, but knowing that your ultimate goal was our happiness, we are going to try our best to succeed and make you proud.
