Cornelius Martens

Funeral services for Cornelius Martens, age 86 of Seminole, Texas, will be held Tuesday, January 27, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Old Colony Mennonite Church with Bishop Peter Janssen officiating. Burial will follow at Gaines County Cemetery. All services are under the direction of Boyer Funeral Home.

Mr. Martens was born in Mexico on May 21, 1939 to Elizabeth (Loewen) and Abraham Martens. He married Susana Wiebe in Mexico on January 1, 1961. He was a member of Old Colony Mennonite Church and worked as a farmer.

Cornelius Martens passed away at Sunland Nursing Home in Seminole on Friday, January 23, 2026. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Susana Martens in 2015; five brothers, and one sister. He is survived by three sons, Abraham Martens and wife Katarina of Mexico, Frank Martens and wife Helena of Bolivia, and Cornelius Martens and wife Christina of Iowa; seven daughters, Maria Neudorf and husband Abram of Bolivia, Sara Neufeld and husband Henry of Mexico, Elizabeth Wiebe and husband Abram of Argentina, Anna Klassen and husband Peter of Canada, Susan Neufeld and husband Willie of Kentucky, and Lena Martens and husband Jacob, and Margaret Dyck and husband Abram, both of Seminole; two half-brothers, David Martens and wife Maria, and Isaac Martens and wife Maria, both of Bolivia; one sister, Sara Neufeld of Bolivia; 47 grandchildren, and 78 great-grandchildren.
