Harold Leon Forkner, age 96, of Grants, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2026, surrounded by loved ones. He was born on January 30, 1930, in Seminole, Texas, to Ray Forkner and Lillian Edwards Forkner.
Harold proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. His service reflected the courage, discipline, and dedication that defined his life.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose quiet strength and steadfast love guided his family through generations. Harold found joy in simple pleasures — especially hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. His love for the outdoors and his appreciation for life’s everyday moments will be cherished forever by those who knew him.
He is survived by his sons Billy Forkner and Abel Forkner (LaNee); Dorothy Forkner; Grandchildren Patrick, Derrick (Lennorre), Nicole, Alex, Courtnee (Devon), and Dylan; and Great-Grandchildren Caylee, Liam, Mila, Brenda, Elaine, Kasen, Kingsleigh, Declan, Dominic Campos III and DeJa Campos.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Anna Marie Forkner, his father Ray Forkner, mother Lillian Edwards, brother Robert Forkner, sister Doris Clark, and grandson Devin Dayton.
Harold will be remembered for his warm heart, his loyalty, and the love he shared with family and friends. His legacy of strength, faith, and kindness will continue to live on through all who were blessed to know him.
A memorial service to celebrate Harold’s life will be held at a later time.
