Correne Patricia (Carter) Hawkins was born February 27, 1941, in Indianapolis, Indiana to Cyril Earl Carter Sr. and Lurene (Cooksey) Carter.
Correne attended Indianapolis Public Schools #26 and Arsenal Technical High School.
In 1961 Correne and Fred Hawkins were wedded in Holy Matrimony.
She was employed at RCA and the United States Postal Service, from where she retired after 35 years, with 25 of those years serving at the Brightwood Post Office.
Correne’s strong faith as a Jehovah’s Witness guided her life, as she enjoyed field service.
Correne was a very loving and giving person who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She loved to travel, making many trips throughout the United States.
Correne Patricia Hawkins departed this life on Thursday, September 25, 2025 at the age of 84 years. Her parents, Cyril Carter Sr. and Lurene Carter; husband, Fred Hawkins; daughter, Angela Locke; grandson, Chris Ingram; brothers, Cyril Carter Jr. and James Sarver; and sisters: Phyllis Meadows, Vada Lyles and Melinda Harper, all preceded her in death.
She leaves to cherish her memory sons: Frederick Hawkins (Angela), Darryl Hawkins (Jennifer) and Robert Hawkins (Danielle); daughters: Valerie Stubblefield (Patrick), Correne Hawkins, Barbra Ingram, Joyce Ingram and Geneva Woods; sisters-in-law: Cleo Piper, Janie Copeland, and Margret Carlucci (Ron); and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
