WAKEFIELD, Mich. - Corrine A. Lake, 95, of Wakefield, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2025, in Ashland, Wisconsin.
Corrine was born Dec. 12, 1929, in Bessemer, to Louis and Monica Nelson, sister to Conrad and Milton Nelson. She attended A.D. Johnston High School, graduating in 1947. On Dec. 6, 1947, she was united in marriage to Gordon R. Lake of Wakefield. Together they made their home in Pike Location and raised four children, Gordon R. Lake Jr., Gail Anderson, Ronald Lake and Diana Ewald. She was further blessed with 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Corrine was a wonderful homemaker and a proficient seamstress. There was not a sewing or mending project she could not handle. She enjoyed the challenge of fixing things and making them new again. After raising her children, she worked as a nurse's aide at the Gogebic Medical Care Facility, giving compassionate care to the residents, retiring in 1982.
Corrine was an active member of her church, as a Sunday school teacher at First Lutheran when her children were young and later as a funeral volunteer and quilter at All Saints Lutheran.
Funeral services were held for Corrine at All Saints on Feb. 15th with the Rev. Brittany Barkus officiating. Interment will be held at the Lakeside Cemetery in Wakefield this spring.
The family would like to thank the staff of Court Manor Health Services, Ashland, for the loving care given to Corrine during her final years.
Jerald Rocco, owner and manager of Lakeside Memorial Chapel Inc., Wakefield, is assisting the family with arrangements. To send online condolences or to share a memory go to lakesidememorialchapel.com.
