Coston Steve Sawyer

Coston Steve Sawyer, age 68, of Elizabeth City, NC, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born in Pasquotank County, NC, on December 3, 1956, to Ventrice Chappell Sawyer and the late William Staple Sawyer, Coston lived a life marked by dedication, laughter, and unwavering devotion to the people he loved. He was a proud graduate of Appalachian State University, where he earned his bachelor's degree in History-an accomplishment he cherished throughout his life.
For 38 hardworking years, Coston served alongside his father at Sawyers House of Furniture, where he built a legacy of commitment, craftsmanship, and kindness.
In addition to his mother, Coston leaves behind his loving wife, Debbie Weatherly Sawyer; his sons, Brandon Scott Sawyer and Travis Ryan Sawyer, along with Travis's wife, Lindsey Ferrell Sawyer. He was a cherished Paw Paw to his grandchildren: Megan Nicole Stallings and her husband, Jason Dylan Stallings, Nathan Drew Sawyer, Dakota, and Waylon; and a proud great-grandfather to Holdyn Blake Stallings. He also leaves behind his beloved fur baby, Missy, who brought him endless comfort and joy. He was predeceased by his father.
He enjoyed the simple pleasures of life-camping, traveling, beach days, playing cornhole, and making memories with family. Coston had a gift for making people laugh and was known as a hard-working, devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Those who knew him will remember his warm spirit, his humor, and the way he made every gathering brighter.
A private family service will be held at a later date. The Sawyer family will welcome friends at their home on Tuesday, November 25, 2025 from 6:00–7:00 p.m. to offer support and share memories.
He will be deeply missed by many and never forgotten. Please keep his family and friends in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
