Mr. Michael David Hortman, Sr. age 65, of Ellaville, passed away Wednesday, October 15, 2025 at his home. A funeral service and celebration of his life will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, October 18, 2025 in the chapel of Aldridge Funeral & Cremation Services. Rev. Damon Fountain will officiate the service. Interment will follow in the Ellaville City Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 12:00 noon until service time Saturday, in the funeral home chapel.
Michael David Hortman was born June 27, 1960 at (Camp Lejeune) Jacksonville, NC. He was the son of the late David Brown Hortman and the late Patricia Louise Hobbs Hortman. He retired from Imerys Minerals in Andersonville. Michael enjoyed the simple things in life like drinking coffee and playing golf. He loved to laugh and prank. He enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was a member of White Water Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife Johnna Bush Hortman of Ellaville; two sons and daughter-in-law, John Patrick Hortman of Ellaville and Michael David Hortman, Jr. (Halley) of Ellaville. Michael is also survived by two sisters and a brother-in-law, Marsha Norris (Gary) of Ellaville and Michele Shuptrine of Cleveland, GA; sisters-in-law, Brenda Crawford of Americus, Monica Horne (Sport) of Americus and his grandchildren, Miles Hortman, Oscar Lloyd and Cruz Layfield.
The following gentlemen have been called as active pallbearers: Michael Hortman, Patrick Hortman, Trevor Jennings, Braden Jennings, Matthew Poole, and Grant Shuptrine. Cousins and friends will be honorary pallbearers.
The family would like to thank Georgia Hospice, Dr. Jill Olek and Katie Summers for all the love and help.
