Craig Gerard Broussard, lovingly known as "Apple Seed" or simply "Seed," passed away peacefully in the quiet of the night on Thursday, August 14, 2025, in his home-a home he cherished and purchased from his beloved grandparents in 1980. He was 65 years old, born in New Orleans, LA, and a lifelong resident of
LaPlace, LA. Craig was a proud member of the Larayo Ball Park and the Old 51 Civic Association. A man of many talents, he was an incredible cook, a gifted painter and pen-and-ink artist-a creative legacy passed down from his mother-and a skilled carpenter who mentored many young men in the trade. For decades, he was a beloved (and, at times, torturously frustrating) bartender at Bully's Halfway House, where countless friends and patrons came not only for a drink but also for "Mr. Personality" famous one-liners, sharp jabs, quick wit, and endless sarcasm-always delivered with his unique brand of loving humor. Craig loved fishing, crafting homemade wine, baking the best pecan pies, creating beautiful works of art, and, above all, spending time with his family. He loved his children deeply, but it was his grandchildren who truly lit up his life. He is survived by his sons, Travis Paul Broussard and Zachary Gerard Broussard (wife, Nicole). Darlene Latino, "his first and only marriage," although divorced for over 25 years, Craig and Darlene remained dear friends. Living just a few houses apart and checking on each other daily-especially in the years following his stroke. He was the proud grandfather of Brilee Lyn Broussard, Brady Paul Broussard, Brennan Joseph Broussard, Brycen Lee Broussard, Braxton Thomas Broussard, Greyson Gerard Broussard, and Logan Reid Broussard. He was the beloved son of Marion Paul Broussard and the late Virgie Vicaro Broussard, and the cherished brother of Marianne Wolfe (Dean), Michael Broussard (Mary Alice), Steven Broussard (Wanda), David Broussard (Nancy), Brion Broussard (Jenny), Kenneth Broussard (Diane), and Beth Broussard Roussel-affectionately known as Craig's "crazy nurse Beth." He is also survived by more than three dozen nieces and nephews, as well as his godmother, Rosemary Woffard "Aunt BB," who has never failed to shower her godchild and favorite nephew with generosity, love, and perfectly timed cards and gifts over the years. The family will be forever grateful for the unwavering kindness, compassion, and support of Angela Anderson, their longtime caregiver. For more than two decades, Angela has been part of the Broussard family-first caring for Craig's mother until her passing in 2014, and continuing to care for his father, who just celebrated his 98th birthday. In recent years, Angela's devotion to Craig brought him comfort, dignity, and plenty of laughter. Seed's stories, sarcasm, laughter, and love will echo in the hearts of all who knew him. He was truly one of a kind, with a unique way of encouraging others that, to an outsider, may have seemed abrasive-but to those who knew him best, it was his way of saying, "Do better." The world is a little brighter and certainly funnier for having had him in it. Rest in peace, "Sunshine", an additional nickname that one of his best friends, Chad "Lout", so fondly and appropriately would call him. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation and memorial service at Millet-Guidry Funeral Home, 2806 W. Airline Hwy., LaPlace, on Saturday, August 23, 2025. Visitation will be held from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by a memorial service to celebrate Craig's remarkable life. Inurnment will be held immediately after the service at St. Peter Cemetery, 1550 Hwy. 44, Reserve, LA
