Craig Douglas Hayden passed away Sunday morning, September 28th, 2025. A beloved husband, father, papa, uncle and friend, he will be remembered as a man of quiet courage, patience, understanding, and kindness to all those he met. He touched countless lives throughout his life and will be known for his service to his family, friends, church and community.
Craig was born on October 13, 1952, in Flint, Michigan to Warren Douglas Hayden and Marie Jane Crafts. He met his future wife, Carol Susan Kidder, at her graduation party in 1972, and they were married on December 1st, 1973, in Fenton, Michigan. The couple joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on February 23rd, 1980, and were sealed in the Washington D.C. Temple for time and all eternity on March 19th, 1981. Craig would go on to serve multiple callings in the church, including Bishop, Young Men’s President and as a Scoutmaster. Craig spent his time, coming to the aid of friends and family, and offering an ear to those who needed someone to listen.
Craig was devoted to his family, and loved them all dearly. He was a pilot, enjoyed playing guitar, rooting for the Detroit Tigers, and spending time with his life-long friends Pat Finnegan, Leo Doan and Chuck Bordner. Craig was a toolmaker for General Motors for over 40 years.
Craig was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Martin Hayden. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Carol; their four children Julie (Terry) Green, Lisa (John) Louis, Steven (fiancée Nada Daher) Hayden, and Michael (Jennifer) Hayden; their ten grandchildren Asa, Amelia, and Jaxon Green; Katelyn and Hayden Kruse; Max, Evie, Lizzie, and Samuel Louis; Aiden Korunes; his siblings Pam (Dave) Braden, Gary (Sue) Hayden, and sister-in-law Janine Hayden.
A viewing will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Flint Chapel, 1225 Robert T Longway Blvd, Flint, MI 48503 on Monday, October 6th from 11:00am -1:00pm. Funeral services to follow at 1:00pm.
Flower tributes are welcome and may be delivered to Sharp Funeral Home in Fenton. Donations may be made to: Elga Credit Union Victim Compassion Fund #GrandBlancStrong.
