Craig McLeod Obituary

Published by Legacy on Feb. 22, 2023.
Sanford - Craig David McLeod, 47 passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family after a two-year battle with Gastric Cancer.
Craig was born on January 9, 1976, to Donald (Skip) McLeod JR and Sandra Bouzan McLeod in Natick, Massachusetts. Craig, now officially the baby of the family joined his older siblings, Corrie, Shawn, Scott, and Cindy. The family was now complete. Craig's Massachusetts roots would be short lived as a few days later the family moved to Shapleigh, Maine where they remain to this day.
Craig's childhood days were spent following around his older siblings and getting into whatever mischief they could find, which anyone who knows the McLeod children would know that can be a lot. At an early age, Craig developed a love for all things that could go fast, and his first question would always be "How fast do it go?"
Craig's love for all things that go included motocross which he excelled at. He participated in many races throughout New England. Craig also loved motorcycles, classic muscle cars and of course trucks, of which over the course of his life there have been too many to count. Craig also had a love of marital arts, particularly Jujitsu. Craig attended Massabesic schools and the Sanford Vocational Center where he completed the automotive technician program and graduated in 1994. It is no surprise that with Craig's love of motorsports that he would naturally choose this as his career path. Craig worked for Robertson's Power Sports before venturing off on his own and creating Morin's Motorsports, partnering with his soon to be father-in-law David Morin. Many years later Craig decided he needed a change. The Restorative Blasting Company was created, and the family purchased a new shop that had enough land to build their dream and forever home.
The summer of 1997 Craig would meet the love of his life Angie. The two dated for four years and married on August 25, 2001. They have been happily married ever since. Their love added two children to the family, Collin on May 22, 2003, and Shelby on February 20, 2006. Craig loved his children very much and spent much time cheering them on at sporting events, sharing his love of motorsports with them, and taking family vacations.
Craig's biggest attribute was his heart. He was always helping people. It was not uncommon for him to be seen helping someone broken down in a parking lot to help change a tire, giving a friend a ride when they were stranded even if it was the middle of the night, or just to be there to be an ear to talk to when a difficult situation arose. He was the best hugger and always tried to make you laugh. He was witty and sarcastic and his energy just filled a room. Craig was a very social person and we always joked that wherever we were, even if it was a different state that Craig would know someone, and he always did.
Craig was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Donald Sr, and Lillian McLeod. Uncle Roy and Aunt Linda (McLeod) Wetherby. Maternal grandparents, John and Ruth Bouzan.
He is survived by his wife Angie McLeod and their children Collin and Shelby. His parents Donald and Sandra McLeod. Sister Cindy and husband Stephan Marshall and two children Brian Marshall and fiancée Amelia Butler, daughter Shawna and Husband Jesse Mitchell and their three children Chase, Bennett, and Maverick. Brother Scott and wife Debra and two children Ryan and partner Elise Grabowski and son Matthew. Brother Shawn and wife Cathy and two children Adam and Alex. Sister Corrie and Husband Daniel Boucher and three children, daughter Amber and Husband Justin Stone and their son Emmett, Son Devon Drake and wife Lindsey and their three children, Parker, Cole, and Bailey and lastly son Reese Boucher.
A Celebration of Life has been planned for Craig on Sunday, February 26 from 12:00 to 3:00PM at Rustic Dreams Barn and Venue located at 1413 Alfred Rd, Lyman, Maine.
Arrangements are under the direction of Black Funeral Homes and cremation service, Sanford-Springvale.
