Webster: Tues., Feb. 27, 2024, age 56. Predeceased by his parents, Theodore "Ted" and Carol Ellsworth Modern. He leaves his sister, Donna (Bob) Scharding; niece, Quinn Scharding; god-sons, Ben Tompkins and Nicholas Thompson; many friends. Craig was a long-time Webster Men's Lacrosse coach.
Craig worked for Gorbel Incorporated for over 15 years. Other places of employment included 84 Lumber, Apples Grocery (remember that?!), Rochester Redwings clubhouse, and security for various sports and concert venues, eating and drinking establishments. His greatest and most prized position was as a Lacrosse coach and mentor for most of his life, primarily at Webster Thomas High School, but also at the Brighton School District. This article encompasses Craig as a coach and his approach in life:
Lacrosse was his greatest passion, as evidenced by his coveted position as an original season ticket holder of the Rochester Knighthawks Lacrosse team. Other passions included all sports in general, particularly for the young adults in his life. His favorite football teams were the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Minnesota Vikings. He loved to jab his friends in good fun, but supported all athletes regardless of team, in their endeavors.
He loved and supported music of the live-venue type, and had particular fun following the Dave Matthews Band.
In fairer weather times of year, Craig enjoyed Civil War re-enactment, where he served as soldier and officers, leaving as Captain of Moody's Battery, Louisianna Light Artillery.
Coach, mentor, true friend - Three roles he embodied no matter whose path he crossed in life. Please celebrate the love and caring he bestowed upon all-

We are so sorry for the loss of Craig.
He was a great Captain for the Civil War Group Madison Louisianna.
He never complained about his illness. He always signed his emails with "Cheers"
He will truly be missed by all who knew him. May he rest in peace.
May God Bless you all at this sad time.
