Craig Lovell Phillips, Jr., affectionately known as “C.J.”, transitioned from his earthly life on Friday, August 18, 2023.
Born on April 28, 1992, in Magnolia, Arkansas, C.J. was the son of Craig L. Phillips, Sr. and Alice Annette Sherman.
He was a 2010 graduate of Magnolia High School. C.J. worked briefly at Walmart before joining the United States Army. After graduating from basic training and beginning his active-duty career, C.J.'s military profession would be cut short due to a medical disability. He eventually relocated to Fayetteville, NC where he attended community college and later became a manager at Tire House.
In his spare time, C.J. enjoyed fishing and simply being with his family and friends. He was a big Arkansas Razorback fan and an even bigger Philadelphia Eagles fan. He even managed to see some NFL games to add to his enjoyment and passion for the game.
C.J. was preceded in death by his father, Craig L. Phillips, Sr.; and grandfathers, M.C. Jones and Kenneth “Tick” Williamson.
His memory will be cherished his wife, Margarita Phillips; daughters, Sofia and Esmae Phillips; two sons, Vicente Tamayo-Duran and Brian Tamayo, all from Fayetteville, NC; his mothers, Annette (Patrick, Sr.) Sherman and Ida Jones; grandmother, Alice Williamson; grandfather, Roy Lee (Keisha) Henderson; aunts: Chantae (Jason) King, Tameka (Horatio) French, and Yolanda Jones; siblings: Apiphinee (Richard) Davis, Stephon Reed, Stephanie Henderson, Kawavin Jamerson, Rodneysia Musgraves, Patrick “P.J.” Sherman, Candace Carrington, and Jabrea Phillips; uncles: Darrell Jones, Xavier Scott, and Anthony Williamson; special aunt, Glenda Henderson; special friends, Darius and Gavin Alexander; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
C.J. accepted Christ at an early age. His gentle demeanor, kind heart, and infectious smile would brighten anyone’s day. His light will continue to shine in every life he was blessed to touch. He will be dearly missed by everyone who knew and love him.
