It is with the deepest sadness that we, the Roberts Family, announce the passing of Craig Young Roberts. On August 12, 2025, after a relapse of cancer this summer, he passed away peacefully with his family by his side. Craig was born September 23, 1943 to Phyllis (Erdman) Roberts and Maurice Winfred Roberts, in Baltimore, Maryland. He was a life-long resident of Maryland and graduated from Towson High School and the University Maryland. Through the Ski Club of Washington D.C, he met Harriet Tate and they married on July 26, 1969 in Fairfax, Virginia. Soon after they settled into an Olney, Maryland home to raise their family and remain there to this day.

Craig joined the Department of the Navy at the Naval Ordinance Laboratory in 1965 and transferred to the Naval Sea Systems Command in 1979 where he remained for the duration of his thirty-four year career. He retired as program manager within the Office of Mine Warfare in 1999. Craig loved playing golf, contributing to the local commutiny as a member of the Olney Lions Club, and savoring Chesapeake blue crabs every summer. Whether driving to the bay to get a bushel of live crabs to host crab feasts at home for family and friends, or picking up a dozen "class A's" at Billy's in the Outer Banks, he always loved sharing this hands-on delicacy with everyone he knew and loved.

During their marriage he and Harriet enjoyed playing bridge with friends, taking their sons on summer camping trips to many national parks, and after retiring, traveling to Europe to many beautiful and historic places. They also loved their small beach house in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina and rarely a month would go by without a visit to their Outer Banks sanctuary to celebrate summers with extended family, tackle the to-do list of yard and house maintenance, or simply watching the sun set over Kitty Hawk Bay.

Craig is survived by his wife of 56 years, Harriet, and his two sons: Keith Winfred Roberts of Newport, Oregon and Patrick Brett Roberts (wife, Meg) and three grandchildren of Eldersburg, Maryand. A Celebration of Life will be held sometime in September. At a later date, his ashes will be scattered in his favorite place. If you would like to remember Craig, the Roberts Family asks that donations be made to the Olney Lions Club or a donation to your favorite charity in his honor. Thank you.
