Craig Stanley, 87, of Rushville Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on October 5th, 2025 surrounded by his loving family.
Craig was born at home, in Carbondale, Ohio on Christmas Eve in 1937. The last of nine children born to Joseph and Blanch (Cox) Stanley. After graduating from Nelsonville High School in 1956, Craig served for 2 years in the US Army before settling in the Lancaster area to raise his family and begin his career in life insurance sales followed by a 30-year career with South Central Power Company in public relations.
Craig is survived by his wife, Bonnie (Bope) with whom he shared a blended family during their nearly 51 years of marriage; his children, Elaine (Don) McMullen, Tim (Julie) Stanley; her children, Tracy (Ron) Greene, JB (Amy) Cunningham, and Wendy Cunningham; grandchildren, Jessica, Josh, Dana, Joe, Zach, Casey, Shelby and Michael Stanley, Seth and Jayna Holehouse, Jabe Cunnigham; and several great-grandchildren. Craig was preceded in death by sons, Dave and Jeff Stanley; grandson, Chris Holehouse; brothers, Joe, Bill, Walter and Jim; sisters, Audrey, Bea, Derb and Cleo; and his parents. Craig also leaves behind many nieces and nephews and his Oakthorpe Church family and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 9th at 2 PM in the Oakthorpe Church, 6075 Oakthorpe Rd. NE, Thornville, Ohio 43076. Interment will follow in the West Rushville Cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to the funeral service from 12 PM - 2 PM at the Oakthorpe Church. Memorial contributions in Craig's memory may be made to Oakthorpe Church.
