Creusa Estima Bermudez

Creusa Estima Bermudez, 88, passed away Tuesday September 9, 2025 surrounded by love. She was born on March 21, 1937, in Princesa Isabel, Paraíba, Brazil, to Alexandrina dos Santos Estima Da Costa and José Antonio Da Costa.

Creusa met the love of her life, Ramón Felipe Bermudez, in Old Lyme, where he worked as a chef and she as a waitress. Together they built a life rooted in love, family, and hard work.

Creusa brightened every room she entered with her infectious smile and laugh. She had a huge heart and gave selflessly, helping countless people over the years without ever asking for anything in return. The happiness of others was always precious to her.

Diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in her 40s, Creusa never let it stop her from doing the things she loved. She was an incredible seamstress who not only made her own clothes but also sewed for her family and sold her creations. She loved playing cards, and she especially enjoyed going out to eat lobster, shrimp, and crab legs. She adored perfume and never left the house without looking her very best - even just for a trip to the grocery store.

Creusa was predeceased by her beloved husband, Ramón Felipe Bermudez, her sister Vanilla Estima Correia, her brother Antonio Estima Da Costa, and her sister Maria Samples.

She is survived by her children, Leonard Bermudez and Melissa Minzy; her stepchildren, Carmen Bermudez Eldridge, Ramona Bermudez, and Ramón Bermudez, Jr.; her grandchildren, Leonard Bermudez, Jr., Bethany Bermudez, Jessica Bermudez, Cole Minzy, and Blake Minzy; her great-grandchildren, Leonard Bermudez III, Riley Bermudez, Michael Bermudez, Ryan and Ana Mohamed; and her sister, Julieta Borba, age 98.

Creusa will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and cherished friend to many. Her love, warmth, and strength will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Services will be held on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, with viewing from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., followed by services and burial at Cummings-Gagne Funeral Home, 82 Cliff Street, Norwich, CT 06360.
