Irene Morrison

Irene Elizabeth Morrison of Waterford, Ct. passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on August 26, 2025. She was born on April 13, 1933, in Norwich, Ct., the daughter of Peter and Anna Linkus (nee Brazinsky).

Irene married John Joseph Morrison on November 8, 1952, and they enjoyed 57 years together before his passing. They were long-time residents of Cape Cod and traveled together through the US and abroad. Her working years were spent mainly in the insurance field, and post-retirement, as a cashier at Bradlee's department store. Going to work each day was something she always valued and enjoyed. She had a great love of beauty, expressed through gardening and intricate handwork. Her hobbies also included: reading, shopping, doing jigsaw puzzles, watching movies, and eating chocolate. She was an observer of nature and seeker of sunshine, known for her remarkable vitality, warm personal interest in others, and delightful sense of humor - all of which she maintained to the end of her life.

Besides her beloved husband, she was predeceased by her parents and siblings and endured the loss of her son, Brian Morrison of Las Vegas, Nevada.

She is survived by her daughter, Sara Morrison, son, John Morrison and his wife, Kim, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and extended family.

There will be a Mass Thursday September 4 at 10:30 AM at Sacred Heart Church 52 W Town St. Norwich, with interment to follow at Saint Joseph's Cemetery in Norwich.
