" And on the 8th day, he created her."
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth but, the real work started on the 8th day of August, (he likely needed a full day of rest on the 7th, before creating a force of nature). Cristi Lynne Cazenave, was Gods gift to Edward Bernard and Thelma Catherine Cazenave, her four siblings, three children, four grandchildren, and a world full of window shoppers. She had an incredible shelf life, with some minor wear and tear from aging gracefully, but, her lease on life expired, and she was returned to her maker. Cristi is the gift that keeps on giving, and we and our memories with her are living receipts of that.
Cristi was the center of the family universe, (aka the middle child), the center of attention in every space she occupied, who emitted the brightest light (partially from her immaculate set of pearly whites), but mainly from her kind and genuine spirit. She was far from self-centered, but never met a mirror she didn't like. She wasn't a fan of taking pictures, so she created three miracles in her own image: Jami, Justin, and Jessica (the last of which has been considered as her finest work).
Cristi truly took center stage in her role as Mom, accepted every imperfection her children developed, presiding over her household as both angel and landlord, blessing her children with patience, guidance, and hands laid in prayer-or gentle correction-depending on the day, and the occasional well-timed eye roll and four letter word (which wasn't "holy" or "amen"). She found joy in the simple things, a bright red lip, bracelet sized hoop earrings, good coffee, soft crushed ice (it had to be cloudy), bad reality tv shows, and Candy Crush.
As Gigi to her four grandchildren: Kailey, Marley, Carter and Iris; She got to spoil without consequence, and take part in a little innocent mischief. But, regardless of what you called her (Cristi, daughter, sister, mom, Gigi, friend), when you called her you knew you were in for a conversation you'd never want to end, with a person you'd never forget. Although she answered that last call from God, the line is still open, and she is still on the other end ready to listen if you need to talk.
The hotline to heaven will be open to friends and family on Sunday, November 16th from 10 am. to 2pm at Fontana Mortuary located at 8030 Mango Avenue,
