Crystal Lynette Sands

Crystal Sands, 50, of Vidor, Texas, passed away on May 12, 2025. She was born on September 25, 1974.

Crystal worked for many years as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN), dedicating herself to the care of others. She loved the beach and found peace and comfort near the ocean or on a cruise ship. She appreciated the finer things in life and was rarely seen without her Louis Vuitton.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Lillian Sands; her parents, Janice and Rollen Shuff; her biological mother, Bessie Mixon Boles; her brother, John P. Picard; sister, Myrtle Dupre; brother, Timothy Picard; and adoptive parents Gladys Mixon Ryder and Clyde Ryder.

Crystal is survived by her children: Kristen Bush of Houston; Bryan Mitchell and wife Lillian of Alvin; Holden Mitchell and wife Bethany of Silsbee; Kinnedy Mitchell and husband Julian VanDevender of Vidor; and Gabriel Sands of Vidor.

She is also survived by her sister Tammy Anders and husband Barney of Vidor; niece Cherie Anders; siblings Kim Stoot (husband Thomas), Joseph Hargroder (wife Shirley), and Debbie Guidry (husband Joe); her uncle Ronald Ryder; her uncle Thomas Ryder and wife Elaine of Opelousas, LA; and a host of cousins, aunts, uncles, extended family, and friends. Also left behind are Lilly's beloved dog, Emma, and cat, Annie.

Crystal will be cremated, and a memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
