Crystalen June Schwartz, 91, died on October 8, 2024 at Life Care Center in Hendersonville, NC, from complications of Alzheimer's Disease. She was born in Webster, KS on May 21, 1933, to Katherine Kenny Wray and George A. Wray. In addition to her parents, Crystalen was preceded in death by her husbands, Ronald Holmes, Harold Bossman and Theodore Schwartz; her children Rhonda Holmes Haislet, James Holmes, Richard Holmes, and Robert Holmes; her brothers and sisters Leona Wray Veach, Donald Wray, Lawrence Wray, Jerald Wray, and Mary Ellen Wray Rhodes; and granddaughter Rebecca Wilson. Surviving her are her two daughters Patricia Holmes Wilson Ashe, and Beverly Holmes; brother Paul Wray and sister Joyce Wray Graham; grandchildren Bradley Wilson, Stephanie Wilson Douglass, Jayelyn Holmes Moore, Jill Scott, Travis Dreher, Whitney Dreher Fourie, Justin Mead; and great-grandchildren Aurora Douglass, Joshua Douglass, Elizabeth Jade Douglass, Raegan Moore, Jackson Moore, Lila Dreher, Kaiya Fourie, Treyja Fourie, and many nieces and nephews.
Crystalen's life was one of dedication to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and spreading his love and compassion to everyone around her. She prayed for her family and others daily, even with strangers in the grocery store line because the person needed up-lifting. She obtained her GED in 1968, but her wisdom over the years was great and she readily shared her knowledge and skills with others. She loved dancing, singing, and creating many beautiful objects through her craft work. She had scores of good friends due to her loving and giving nature. Her family knew they could always depend on her and she unselfishly shared whatever she had with them and others as well. She will be remembered as Sis, Aunt Sis, Grandma Chris, and Granny across five generations of family who loved her. Her generous spirit lives on in each of us.
She always wanted a joyful celebration that she is now in heaven. Her family will provide that.
