David Curtis "Curt" Mumpower, age 61, of Quincy, ran to the arms of Jesus on Thursday, December 14, 2023.
Curt was born on December 2, 1962 in Carthage, IL, the son of David L. Mumpower and Susan (Habben) Ende.
Curt was united in marriage to Ellen Pohlpeter on June 7, 1986. She survives.
Curt graduated from Payson Seymour High School in Payson, IL in 1981. After high school, he went to work for Deters Dairy. In 1984 Curt started his career as an over-the-road truck driver. He worked in this field for 35 years and owned and operated eight different semis. Curt loved driving the open road and his annual fishing trip in Rockbridge, MO. He also enjoyed the occasional whiskey. On June 5, 2014 Curt became an official member of the Tennessee Squire Association.
He abruptly had to retire in 2019 due to being diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig Disease).
Curt attended LifePoint Church.
Those left to cherish his loving memory are his wife, Ellen; his daughter, Abbie; his son-in-law, Bryan Bulaga; two special people who stole his heart, grandson, Declan Bulaga and granddaughter, Cameron Bulaga; his mother, Sue Ende; his sister, Cathy (Jeff) Bower; sisters-in-law: Becky (Rick) Baker, Carol, Lorrie (John) Bird, and Gerry Pohlpeter; and many nieces and nephews.
Curt was preceded in death by his father, David L. Mumpower; his sister, Carye Sue Mumpower; and his grandparents and in-laws.
Visitation: 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at LifePoint Church.
Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at LifePoint Church with Pastor Chris Woodard officiating.
