Curtis Wade Allgood, 73, of Chase City, Virginia, passed away on Tuesday, October 21, 2025 at his home. He was born May 26, 1952 and was the son of the late Lewis Allgood and the late Nellie Carter Allgood.
Curtis is survived by his wife of 53 years, Peggy Bohannon Allgood and three daughters, Kelly Allgood Moran of Suffolk, Leslie Allgood Smith (Hunter) of Charleston, SC and Tracy Allgood Bailey (Jeff) of Chase City. He is affectionately known as “Dado” to his grandchildren, Landon Moran, Ella Smith, Barrett Smith, Isabella Smith and Caroline Smith. He is also survived by a host of special cousins and friends and his beloved cat, P.J.
He is a founding and lifelong member of Easters Hunt Club and a lifelong member of Easters United Methodist Church. He retired as a Rural Mail Carrier from the United States Postal Service after 34 years. He loved Christmas and time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. Curtis was an avid tobacco and hay farmer all of his life and it defined who he was a person. He is the true definition of a good man and to know him was to love him.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 24, 2025 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Newcomb Allgood Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at the Newcomb Allgood Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Woody Moore officiating. Interment will follow at Easters Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation in his memory to the Mecklenburg County Cancer Association, PO Box 94, Clarksville, VA 23927 or the Easters United Methodist Church General Fund, c/o Ruth Ann Thompson, 5753 Wightman Road, Chase City, VA 23924.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Ashley, Tiffany, Nannie and Kim with Amedysis Hospice for the love, care and compassion they received.
