Robert "Bob" Lee Harper, 71, of Littleton, NC, left this world on October 21, 2025, surrounded by love. Born on May 16, 1954, in Ulm, Germany, he was adopted as an infant by Woodrow and Marjorie Harper and grew up to be a man known for his big heart, his honesty, and his deep love for family.
At just 18 years old, Bob joined the United States Marine Corps. For 21 years, he served his country with pride and dedication, reaching the rank of Gunnery Sergeant before retiring in 1993. His service bookended two wars, and he never stopped being proud of wearing the uniform. Semper Fi.
After the Marines, Bob worked as a Maintenance Supervisor with Lorillard Tobacco in Greensboro, NC, until his retirement in 2016. He worked hard to provide for his family and always believed in doing things the right way.
Bob married his best friend, Debbie, in 1981, and together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and family. He adored their three daughters-Amy, Melissa, and Kristen-and was beyond proud to be "Grandaddy" to Chloe, Brantley, and Hudson.
Bob was the kind of man who would drop everything to help if you asked. He loved riding motorcycles, reading a good book, and playing golf when he could. Even when he could no longer ride, he often said how much he missed being on the road.
He is preceded in death by his sister, Lorraine King, and brother, Woodrow Harper. He leaves behind his wife, Debbie; daughters, Amy, Melissa, and Kristen; his grandchildren, and his sister, Debbie Winters-all of whom will carry his memory in their hearts.
Bob will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, Marine, and friend. His family takes comfort knowing he lived a life full of love and service. A memorial service will be held November 12, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Horeb Baptist Church, 10077 Old Cox Rd. Chase City. Interment will follow in the Colley Family Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bob's name to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, an organization close to his heart. Wood Funeral Service is serving the family. Condolences may be expressed at www.woodfuneralservice.com
