In Loving Memory of
First Sergeant Curtis Warren Devin
Curtis Warren Devin, age 83, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2025, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, surrounded by love. He was born on February 3, 1942, in Colas, West Virginia, to Samuel and Magdeline Devin.
Curtis spent his formative years with relatives in Martinsville and Newport News, Virginia. After graduating from high school in 1960, he proudly entered military service, embarking on a distinguished career that spanned twenty-five years. He retired in 1985 with the rank of First Sergeant, a position reflecting his exceptional leadership, discipline, and devotion to duty.
Throughout his military career, Curtis served with honor both domestically and abroad, including assignments in England, Germany, and two tours in Vietnam. While stationed in Germany, he began his Masonic journey, ultimately holding numerous leadership roles, including Worshipful Master, Secretary, and Assistant Rabban. In recognition of his unwavering commitment to Masonic principles and community service, Curtis was elevated to the 33rd and final degree of Freemasonry in October 1983. He also earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Regis University.
First Sergeant Devin was the recipient of numerous military decorations, including the Army Service Ribbon; Good Conduct Medal (6th Award); Overseas Service Ribbon; NCO Professional Development Ribbons (4); Joint Service Commendation Medal; Meritorious Service Medal; National Defense Service Medal; Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars; Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Device; Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm; and Overseas Service Bars (2), among others. His service reflected a lifetime of courage, sacrifice, and dedication to country.
Following his military retirement, Curtis continued his commitment to public service. Beginning in 1986, he served the State of Colorado in several capacities, including the Department of Corrections, and received multiple appointments to the Parole Board by the Governor. He also supported numerous charitable organizations and veteran-focused initiatives, always striving to uplift others.
In 1966, Curtis was united in holy matrimony to his beloved wife, Lennie Veatrice Tyler Devin. Their enduring marriage was blessed with two sons, Keith and Curtis. He was a devoted husband, a proud father and grandfather, and a man whose greatest joy was his family.
Curtis is survived by his loving wife, Lennie Veatrice Devin; his sons, Keith Devin and Curtis Michael Devin; grandson, Malachi Devin and granddaughter Lennie R. Devin; special cousins, Mary Smith, Dan Gilmer Jr., Claude Gilmer, and James Gilmer; sisters-in-law, Ernestine Adger, Barbara Govan, Vickie Lisumbu, and Joyce Cuffy; brothers-in-law, Ernest Tyler, Dana Tyler, and Roy Nugent; and a host of extended relatives and cherished friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Magdeline Devin; his special aunt and uncle, Nannie Sue Gilmer and Dan Gilmer, Sr.; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Ometha and Herbert Tyler; brother-in-law Herbert Tyler, Jr.; sister-in-law Naomi Nugent; and special cousin Cynthia Hockaday.
Curtis found joy in traveling, RV adventures, sports, boating, fishing, and celebrating life with family and in-laws. He took great pride in his home and was especially known for his meticulously manicured lawn, which he maintained with the care and precision of a master craftsman. Above all, Curtis was a family man-a loving husband whose life was guided by faith, service, and integrity.
"Each day is God's gift to you; make it blossom and grow into a thing of beauty."
Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner. Send Your Holy Spirit into my heart.

Donna

December 22, 2025

To Our Aunt Lenny, Curtis Jr & family. First, sending our condolences from New Jersey. My memory (Donna) is that Uncle Punch was straightforward, no-nonsense, but loved to laugh. He was so much like my Grandmother Nannie. He is like my Mom, Mary his Sister. He is not just going give you handout, he's going to make you work for it. Ron and I will miss his sense of humor. Him telling Ron, "Don't quit your day job when Ron told him his jokes. We are praying for you all and are here with a shoulder or an ear. Love & Condolences, Your Nephew Ron & Niece Donna
