Curtis Lampley Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Turner Funeral Home - Waynesboro on Aug. 4, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

ON JANUARY 9, 1955, a baby boy was born to the union of the late Mr. Levert and Mrs. Lucille (Richey) Lampley in Wayne County, MS. Curtis Lee Lampley grew up in Waynesboro, MS and graduated from Waynesboro Central High School. He worked as a common laborer until his health took a downturn.

"Sonnyboy," as he was affectionately known, liked to walk throughout town, and he enjoyed playing spades. Another personal pleasure was a good cup of Folger's coffee and a Coca-Cola.

On July 30, 2025, the LORD called Curtis home and the final chapter of the book of his life came to a close. As the pen that wrote the chapters of his book was gently laid down, his memories are left with his daughter, Lila Maria Richey; five grandchildren, and one great grandchild; two sisters: Lillie Everett and Millie Jones, a favorite nephew, Kavion "Baby" Keys, and a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, "Sonnyboy" was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.

Funeral services will be held Friday, August 8, 2025 at 2:30 PM at New West Point Baptist Church, with Rev. John Robinson as the eulogist. Interment will follow at New West Cemetery.

Mr. Lampley's public viewing will occur Thursday, August 7, 2025 from 12:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Turner Funeral Home.
