Curtis J. LeSage

Ishpeming- Curtis Jon LeSage passed peacefully with his family by his side on November 1, 2025. Curt was born in Kenosha, Wisconsin on July 9, 1963 to Donna and Jerry LeSage. He was raised in Ishpeming, Michigan and graduated from Ishpeming High School in 1981. He completed his bachelor's degree in Paramedicine Technology in 2014.

Curt married his soulmate Mary on August 24, 1985. They spent 40 years together riding around sipping coffee, spending days at camp, and laughing until well after the sun set. They truly had the most fun when they were together.

Curt began his career in emergency medical services and firefighting with the City of Ishpeming in 1981 at the age of 18. Over the years, he served as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), EMT Specialist, and became a Paramedic in 1997. Curt spent nine years as manager of the Greater Iron County EMS before returning home.

Throughout his career, Curt trained hundreds – if not thousands – of EMTs, paramedics, and community members in CPR, Automated External Defibrillator (AED) use, and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). He was a valued member of the Marquette County EMS Medical Control Authority, the Region 8 Healthcare Coalition, the Region 8 Trauma Advisory Council, Emergency Preparedness Committees, and many other groups dedicated to improving patient care. Curt truly devoted his life to helping others and saving lives.

Beyond his professional achievements. Curt's most important roles were those of husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and "Bumpa" to his grandchildren. His warmth, humor and kindness left a lasting mark on everyone who had the privilege to know him. His loss is deeply felt, but our respect and gratitude for his many contributions are even greater.

Curt is loved and survived by so many, including his wife, Mary (Wales) LeSage of Ishpeming, father, Jerry LeSage of Ishpeming, brother, Kevin LeSage of Ishpeming, his children, Allison (Dustin) Kennedy of Ishpeming, Annie (Dan) Nelson of Waupaca, Wisconsin, and Andrew (Nikolas Cammiso) LeSage of Tempe, Arizona. He was "Bumpa" to Lillian & Emmett Tomasi, Sawyer Kennedy, Ada and Lenna Nelson and their expected sibling due in February. Other loved ones include Ed & Sharon Wales, Rhonda & Tom Warnes, Rick Wales, Bob & Mary Wales, Tim & Jody Wales, Joe & Sandy Wales, Elizabeth & Brad Kowieski, Vicky Wales, Kris Wales, Nick Tomasi, his EMS & UPHS family, and his many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He will be very missed by his animals Matilda & Ruby. He was honorary Bumpa to Blake, Eli, Finlee, Rhett, Milo, Richie, and Isaac.

Curt was preceded in death by his mother, Donna, his in-laws, Ron & Arlene Wales, and his great niece Delaney.

He has touched many lives in his time with us and his work here is done.

Curt's family will greet relatives and friends at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Wednesday November 5, 2025 from 10:30 AM until 12:00 Noon. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 Noon with Fr. Larry Van Damme celebrating. A luncheon will follow the Mass in the church hall.
