It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved son Curtis "Curt" Martinez, age 41, he was a brother, uncle, godson, nephew, and friend. He was taken from us far too soon.
Curtis lived all his life in Espanola where he made lots of friends while working as a Funeral Director. He was honored to help people in their time of need. He was kind, respectful, and compassionate to them and their loved ones. Before he found his love for serving the community through the funeral home, he was a gas attendant, florist, and Acolyte. He loved being on the altar with our Lord. He also had a passion for cooking, dancing, and singing.
Curtis was preceded in passing by his paternal grandparents Patricio and Consuelo Martinez, maternal grandparents Anastacio and Manuelita Lujan, Aunts and Uncles Mary and Jay Maestas, Anastacio I. and Patrick Lujan, Floyd Naranjo and Artie Baca, cousins Jaylene De Aguero, Martin and James Lujan, and Marissa and Bobby Martinez, fur babies Precious, MJ, and Hunnie.
He is survived by his loving parents Paul and Bernice Martinez, sister Megan and husband Weston Weller, brother Andrew Martinez, nephews whom he adored Anastacio and Sixto Weller, many loving aunts, uncles and cousins that loved and cared for him dearly Nino Leo and Nina Loretta Archuleta, Nina Lynda Martinez, and a very special aunt, Virginia Naranjo who treated him like a son.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Ryan Martinez, Jeremy, Ty, and Gavin Lujan, Anthony and Michael Baca, and Justin and Nathan Maestas.
Honorary Pallbearers will be his nephews Anastacio and Sixto Weller.
In honor of Curtis's life, A Rosery will be recited at 10:30am on Wednesday January 21'st, 2026, a Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00am. Both will be held at Santa Cruz Catholic Church, located at 126 S McCurdy Road, Santa Cruz NM, 87567. Interment will take place following mass at Santa Cruz Catholic Cemetery.
The family of Curtis would like to give a special thank you to Father Sebastian Lee and to Matthias Bowie for taking the time to make his services extra special.
