Curtis "Butch" Oriendle McConkey, 67, of Lenoir City, Tennessee, left this heavenly earth on August 28, 2025. A beloved husband, dad, and papaw, will always be remembered for his honorable character and willingness to help those in trouble, even strangers.

Born on May 2, 1958, in Lenoir City, Butch grew up one of eight kids to Reeford and Mildred McConkey. When he wasn't spending time with his family or spoiling his grandchildren, Butch was an avid gun enthusiast and sports collector, in particular Michael Jordan and Todd Helton, and lover of bluegrass.

A very noble and proud law enforcement officer, Butch devoted his career to serving his community where he worked as a police officer and K9 handler. Butch's work principles were rooted in ethical behavior, constitutional integrity, and a commitment to serving the public with fairness and a keen understanding of their needs.

On April 6, 1979, Butch married the love of his life, Larah McCall. The two shared a love that lasted 46 years and yielded two children and four grandchildren.

Butch is survived by his wife, Larah McConkey, son Chris McConkey (daughter-in-law Michelle), daughter Adrianne Hixson (son-in-law Chris), as well as his grandchildren Kaiya and Waylon Hixson, and foster grandchildren Isaiah Hope and Domani Shaw. He survived by his brother Michael "Buddy" McConkey and sisters Judy Ward and Tammy Bright. He is also survived by his brother-in-laws Michael and Franklin McCall. He is preceded in death by his parents, Reeford and Mildred McConkey, brothers, Teddy, Avery, and Ronnie McConkey, and sister Pam McConkey.

A graveside service to celebrate Butch's life will be held on Wednesday, September 3, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Memorial Gardens with Rev. Mark Hester and Rev. Steve Kirby officiating. It is encouraged to meet at 10:30 am at Click Funeral Home in Lenoir City to line up for funeral procession. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, a charity close to Butch's heart.
