Marcia McConkey passed away on October 15, 2025 at the age of 86.
She grew up in Storm Lake, Iowa, where she met and married the love of her life, Duane McConkey. After studying at the University of South Dakota, Marcia taught fourth grade before becoming a full-time mom to her three daughters, Tami McConkey, Rebecca McConkey-Greene and Susan Del Monte (Bryan), who all became attorneys. After raising their children in Minnetonka, Minnesota, Marcia and Duane retired for a time in Merritt Island, Florida where they boated through the United States Power Squadron before returning to Minnesota. They were charter members of Minnetonka United Methodist Church which they served in many ways. Marcia was also involved in the United Methodist Women of Faith and knitted many beautiful baby sweaters for the Bundles of Love organization. She loved the Minnesota Orchestra and the Guthrie Theater but mostly, her beloved family.
In addition to her daughters, she is survived by her grandchildren Kirk McConkey, Kathryn Del Monte and Elizabeth Del Monte, her cousins Karen Duggan and Marianne Cole Johnson and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at Minnetonka United Methodist Church on Thursday, November 13, 2025. Visitation at 10 a.m., Service at 11 a.m. The family asks that memorials be given to the Emma Norton Residence, 2265 Hillcrest Avenue, Saint Paul, MN 55116.
