Morenci-Cynthia E. Allion, age 103, of Morenci, went home to be with the Lord early Monday morning, May 22, 2023, at the Lenawee Medical Care Facility in Adrian. She was born February 25, 1920, in Fulton Co., OH, the fifth child of Lee and Ethel (Ratcliff) Van Valkenburg. On May 27, 1940, Cynthia married the love of her life, Lavern T. Allion. He preceded her in death in 1969.
Cynthia was a member of Morenci First Baptist Church and she and Lavern were active as group leaders for Jet Cadets, and Jr. and Sr. High youth groups. While Lavern was fighting in the Pacific arena during World War II, Cynthia worked at Hurd Lock in Adrian making ammunition.
Cynthia is survived by their two children, James (Marilyn) Allion of Bryan, OH and Melanie Beck of Morenci. They were blessed with five grandchildren, Jennifer Lynn Allion who is deceased, Julie Tomaszewski of Bryan, Angela Parsons of IN, Stacy Beck of Morenci, and Erin Beck of Morenci; two step-grandchildren, Craig (Chrissy) Kammeyer and Brice (Kim) Kammeyer, both of of AZ; and a brother, John Van Valkenburg of Prattville, AL.
In addition to her husband and granddaughter Jennifer Lynn Allion, she was preceded in death by her parents; a son-in-law, Doyle Beck; and five of her siblings, Florence, Francis, Doris, Dorothea, and William.
In accordance with Cynthia's wishes, no public services will be held. Private burial with the family will take place in Oak Grove Cemetery in Morenci.
