Cynthia J. Barnes of Evansdale, peacefully died at Ravenwood Specialty Care on Monday, March 4, 2024.
Cindy was born in Indianapolis, Indiana to John and N. Mae Niedermeyer on June 29, 1949.
As a child, Cynthia’s family relocated to the Waterloo/Cedar Falls area. After graduating from Cedar Falls High School, she married the love of her life, Gerald “Jerry” Barnes, Sr. in 1968. He preceded her in death. Their union in life lasted more than 55 years, but now in eternity they are together.
Cynthia held various jobs over the years, but the most important one for her was taking care of her family. She loved her family deeply and her home always had an open door for them. Cynthia loved the outdoors, fishing, flowers, feeding and watching the wildlife and spending time with her family.
Cynthia is survived by her two sons, Gerald Barnes, Jr. of Evansdale, and Matthew Barnes of Nashua; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; along with nieces and nephews and one sister, Charlotte (Phil) Curry of Cedar Falls. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jerry, and her parents.
Private family services will be held.
