Cynthia Alice Chagnon Boehm passed away on August 4th, 2025, after a brief but intense battle with lung disease at her home in Enfield Connecticut, surrounded by those she loved.
Cynthia was born on September 27, 1973, in Springfield, Massachusetts, and grew up in Longmeadow, Massachusetts where she made more lifelong friends than can be counted. She settled in Enfield Connecticut and there somehow raised three of the most amazing children, Ashley, MacKenzie, and Abigail, all while working full time, going to night school to become a Certified Medical Assistant, and being a full time mom.
She met her true love Peter Boehm there in Enfield and they married in 2021. They shared a love for the ages, the kind of true pure love that few could even dream of finding in this lifetime or the next. They were so fortunate to travel together and built a home so full of love and light that family and friends gathered there often to share in life, and love, with them.
She became lovingly known as GiGi to four of the most incredible grandchildren and loved them with all their might. Payton, Alyce, Felicity, and Logan were the absolute light of her life and brought overwhelming joy. She was always happiest with them around her.
She fought and conquered breast cancer, and advocated for everyone to take care of themselves, and wore her pink ribbons often, dedicating so much time and resource to raise awareness. She used that strength and resilience to become a passionate and empathetic Certified Medical Assistant at the Breast Center at Baystate Health, and provided her patients with the love that radiated from her in all that she did.
She leaves behind her husband and great love Peter Boehm, her children Ashley Littlejohn and her husband Adam Cascio - who became a true son to her, MacKenzie Dillon and their partner Tyler Boulineau, and Abigail Dillon. Her step children Emily Boehm and Cameron Boehm, and her four beloved grandchildren Payton, Alyce, Felicity, and Logan. Her brother, Timothy Chagnon and his wife Suzanne, and their two children Emily and Matthew, and numerous other nieces and nephews both by blood and by bond. She was predeceased by her parents, Dennis and Alyce Chagnon, as well as her brother Jerry, who she will be overjoyed to see again.
Cynthia loved to celebrate life to the absolute fullest, and often, so we will be having a celebration of her life at the Somers Knights of Columbus on the sixteenth of August at four in the afternoon. If some wish to pay respects but not stay for the celebration we will be available at 2:30. There are more people who loved her than we have the ability to recount, and all are welcome to join us and raise a toast of fireball to our own fireball, and celebrate her fully and deeply with us. Not to say goodbye but to rejoice at her life.
