Cynthia Ruth Chockley (Hanson), age 86, of Canon City, CO, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family, on September 28, 2025.

Cynthia was born on July 11, 1939, in Blair, WI, to Martin Grinde Hanson and Ruth Lyckman Hanson. She grew up in a close-knit family and carried that deep sense of connection and care throughout her life.

In 1960, Cynthia married Jerry Dauphin, and together they welcomed three children: Twila Wilkerson, Tracy Chockley, and Tina Backen. In 1966, she married Delbert Chockley, and they had one son, Lee Chockley. Family was always the heart of Cynthia's world, and she poured her love into raising her children and later doting on her grandchildren.

Cynthia lived in Fountain, CO, where she worked for the Town of Fountain and cared for her family until 1973, when the family moved to Steamboat Springs, CO. There, she served as the Deputy County Clerk and Recorder for Routt County, a position she held with dedication until her retirement in 1993. After retiring, she and Delbert settled in Canon City, CO, where they made their home.

Cynthia had a warm and creative spirit. She was an avid quilter, a lover of books and puzzles, and found joy in tending to her garden. But most of all, she was her family's biggest fan - always cheering on her kids and grandkids with love and pride.

She is survived by her four children: Twila Wilkerson of Santa Fe, NM; Tracy Chockley of Kenai, AK; Tina Backen (TC Snyder) of Earlsboro, OK; and Lee Chockley (Jenny) of Brighton, CO; and siblings, Lew Hanson of Rock Springs, WY; Ted Hanson of Swansea, SC; and Helen Keilers of Colorado Springs, CO; as well as her cherished grandchildren: Timbre Backen, Codi Backen, Garrett Chockley, and Dalton Chockley. She also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews.

Cynthia was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert Chockley; parents, Martin and Ruth Hanson; her brother, Earl Hanson; and her son-in-law, Mark Wilkerson.

A celebration of Cynthia's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to share your condolences and memories online through Holt Family Funeral Home.

Cynthia's gentle heart, creative hands, and boundless love for her family will be remembered always.
