Cynthia S. Coppolino, 72, of Dixon, IL, passed away on Monday, February 17, 2025, in Dixon, IL.
Cynthia was born on November 30, 1952, in Chicago, IL, the daughter of William and Elfrieda (Spak) Calohan.
Cynthia (Cindy or Suzie) was proud of her Chicago heritage and spent most of her life living in or near the city. She worked in the food industry as waitress, cook, and manager in and around the city. She loved to tell stories of who she served when working at the Chicago Bar Association's restaurant. She also had a small business making cheesecakes for local restaurants. For a number of years, Cindy was unable to work due to suffering the effects of MS. When she was strong enough, she returned to the work force and in recent years, she worked at Walmart as a greeter and when in better health, at their deli.
Cindy embraced her new community getting involved in the local Multiple Sclerosis Chapter, which she led for the last few years. She was also the first Monday cook for the local Loaves and Fishes Meal where she whipped up delicious meals for many. Finally, Cindy was a wonderful provider to her pets whom she loved so much. April and Kitty-Kitty were loved and cared for and a great comfort to her during her five-year battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her beloved Taffey. Cynthia is survived by her sister-in-law, Margarita Calohan; her step-son, Michael (Taryn) Coppolino; nephew, John (Cari) Calohan, Jr.; niece, Christina Calohan; great-nephews, Dylan Gerig-Carlson, Kooper Calohan, Lukas Dittbenner; great-nieces, Molly Calohan, McKinzy Calohan, and Jazmin Arana. Also, survived by friends, Leonard A. Coppolino, David, Lisa, Lily and Rose Hellyer.
Cynthia was preceded in death by her father, William Calohan; mother, Elfrieda Quirk; brother, John H. M. Calohan, Sr.; nephew, Robert Michaels; great-nephew, Christopher Michaels; and her long-time love, Joseph "Joe" Lorenzo, whom she spent many years with venturing from Chicago to Dixon together.
Per Cynthia's wishes, Cremation Rites will be accorded. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Anne's Catholic Church, Dixon, IL, on March 26, 2025, at 11:00 am with a Celebration of Life Luncheon to follow.
Memorials may be directed to St. Patrick Catholic Church Loaves & Fishes, 612 Highland Ave, Dixon, IL 61021.
