Cynthia Hardt, age 74, wife of Timothy, mother of Rebecca (Allison), and Lauren, died on February 2, 2024. She was born July 28th, 1949 in Waynesville, OH to Sarah and Wade Ellis. She was the first born daughter of three girls, sister to Cathy (Steve) Hurrell and Connie (Steve) Tahy. She was aunt to many nieces and nephews.
An avid reader from a young age, she began her career in the library at UCMC where she met her husband Timothy. They got married just a year after meeting and began their marriage in New Jersey. They soon returned to Cincinnati where they started their family, having two daughters- Rebecca born in September of 1985 and Lauren born in June of 1988.
Timothy's job took her and her family across the globe, she spent several years in Kansas City, Kansas as well as Paris, France before settling back in Cincinnati to be close to family. Cynthia always loved to travel and she regarded each move as a new adventure. She cherished the memories she made in each new place and helped to strengthen the bond between her little family with each move.
Throughout her life she continued to work on and off at the public library, spending the last 10 plus years at the Madeira branch library as the children's librarian. She loved the time she spent with the kids and their families during story time; singing, dancing, playing and reading to the children was one of her greatest joys.
After her retirement she spent her time gardening, reading, spending time with her friends and with her two daughters and husband. She had said one of her biggest accomplishments was becoming a mother and she was fiercely proud of her two daughters.
In November of 2023 she was diagnosed with breast cancer and soon after started chemotherapy. Her treatment was going well when she unfortunately succumbed to a likely complication from her treatment on February 2, 2024.
A Celebration of Life honoring her legacy will be held at Gilligan Funeral Home, Kenwood on February 9th, 5-7pm. A brief Funeral Service to follow at 7:00pm.
