Thomas Hardt Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home - Lewisville on Oct. 28, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

Thomas (Tom) Theodore Hardt went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 24, 2025. He was born in Mount Clemens, Michigan on December 10, 1944, to Theodore and Emeline Hardt. Tom was predeceased by his wife Peggy Hardt in 2015, his parents, and his brother Dennis Hardt.

Tom is survived by his daughter Janelle Bynum, her husband Brent, and his grandchildren Adam Wood and Kayla Sanders, and her husband Austin. He is also survived by his sister Kathleen Haack and her husband Ernest.

Tom grew up in Michigan where he met his wife, Peggy, through church. After getting married on August 12, 1967, they had their daughter and later moved to Texas. They lived in the Houston area for many years before retiring to Double Oak.

Tom loved to figure out how things work, which led to his lifelong career of being a mechanical engineer. He worked for Texas Instruments, Compaq and later Hewlett Packard. Over the course of his career, he was awarded 33 patents from the US Patent Office for his designs of various operating components of computers.

Tom's faith was very important to him, and he proudly and gladly served in many capacities at church over the years. He sang bass in the church choir for his entire adult life, served on the Church Ministry Council at Lamb of God Lutheran Church, organized groups to attend the Lutheran Hymn Festival, and was always happy to help in many other ways.

In his retirement, he developed a love for woodworking projects. He used that love to create a wooden Luther Rose, which is displayed at Lamb of God. He also created "Hold Onto Crosses", wooden crosses with finger sized impressions that people can hold onto whenever they need to. He selflessly made and donated these crosses and impacted countless lives through that ministry.

His other loves were gardening and pies. Being the kind of person to "go big or go home", he was well known throughout his community for growing and giving away tomatoes, okra, squash, cantaloupes, and sometimes peppers and other vegetables. He also enjoyed baking pies and almost always had some kind of freshly made pie on hand.

While we are deeply saddened by Tom's passing and will miss his cheerful smile, we are comforted knowing that he is with his heavenly Father.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Lamb of God Lutheran Church in Flower Mound, Texas on Tuesday, November 4, 2025 at 11am. The family will be available for visitation on Monday, November 3, 2025 from 6-8pm at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home in Lewisville, TX. Memorials may be made to the Music Ministry at Lamb of God Lutheran Church, 1401 Cross Timbers Road, Flower Mound, Texas, 75028.
