Cynthia "Cindy" Jean Henson passed away peacefully at her home on March 13th, 2025. Cindy was born on May 13th, 1956 in
Greensboro, NC. She grew up on her family's farm in Julian, NC and graduated from Southeast High School.
Cindy went on to work for United Guarantee in downtown Greensboro, and after retirement, she took a part time job- which she later turned into another full time career- working for one of her best friends, Sherry Khan, at a local Hotel in Greensboro. Cindy was an incredibly hard and dedicated worker, and took great pride in everything she set her mind to. Cindy was an incredibly proud and loving mother to her only son, Brian Henson, and also a second mom and friend to her daughter in law (Brian's wife), Danielle Henson. She was also lovingly referred to as "Mama Dukes" by many of Brian's friends over the years. Cindy became a proud Gigi with the birth of Brian and Danielle's first son, Aiden Henson, and again with their recently born second son, Cohen Henson. She spoiled them as much as possible with clothing, toys- but most importantly with unconditional love. Aiden and Cohen loved their "silly" and "goofy" Gigi very, very much. She loved to make them laugh and devoted herself completely to them from the moment they entered the world. Cindy valued family above all else and could, lovingly, turn into quite the "bulldog" if she felt she needed to protect any of them. Cindy had many lifelong friendships she maintained and cherished- her longest friendships being of 40 plus years to Denette Moore and Kay Riddle, along with friendships with coworkers, who also meant so much to her. She was fiercely loyal to people who were lucky enough to be labeled "friend" in her book. During her free time, she loved and looked forward to her trips to Topsail Beach with her sister in law, Carol Lewis. You could also be sure to hear all about Carol's amazing "home country cookin" any time she brought her trips up. Cindy will be remembered for her strong, unique and one of kind personality, and will truly be missed by many. She was a true "spitfire" when she needed to be, and was also one of the sweetest and most caring people that there ever was.
She is preceded in death by her father, Lonnie Lewis and her mother, Doris Lewis. She is survived by her older brother Craig Lewis, his wife Carol, and their daughter and her niece, Angie Webster. She is also survived by her son Brian, her daughter in law Danielle, and her grandsons, Aiden and Cohen.
From your family: We will love and miss you always, mom. Aiden says "Hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo Gigi"- their sweet little inside joke.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, March 21, 2025 in The Triad Cremation & Funeral Home Chapel with the family receiving friends from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm prior to the service.
