Cynthia Peterson Obituary

Published by Legacy on Nov. 1, 2025.
Cynthia Kay Peterson, age 70, of Bentonville, Arkansas, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones. She was born on February 5, 1955, in Frankfort, Kentucky, the daughter of Lester and Norma Jean Andersen Meewes.
Cynthia was preceded in death by her parents, former husband, and sister. She grew up in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and raised her family in Ames, Iowa, attending many ISU events and all of her daughter's activities, both musical and athletic. She lived a full and vibrant life, finding joy in the simple and meaningful things-taking long walks, practicing yoga, shopping with her daughters, playing Yahtzee, and spending time with her grandchildren and attending their many activities. She fondly remembers her collegiate years at Iowa State University and was an avid Cyclone fan. She was proud of her years at DD Pyle Accounting Firm in Ames, Iowa: tax season meaning long hours but then making up for it with afternoons at the pool in the summers with her girls. Cindy always looked forward to beach vacations to Gulf Shores, Alabama with her family and finally went on her dream trip to Italy in the fall of 2024. Her fun-loving spirit and zest for life will be remembered by all who knew her. She is survived by her husband, Alan Peterson, daughters Mindy DeVries (Russ) and Mackenzie Tallman (Nick), six grandchildren: Brayden DeVries, Kaedence DeVries, Wynn Cynthia Tallman, Carter DeVries, Grace Tallman, and Maizy Kay DeVries, brother, Brad (Kori) Meewes, niece Lindsay Svenby (Matt),along with many friends and extended family who will cherish her memory. A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday November 4, 2025,at Hunt Chapel, with burial to follow at Pinnacle Memorial Gardens.
