Cynthia Roering Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Anderson Family Funeral Home - Twin Valley on Dec. 4, 2025.
Cynthia "Cindy" Ann Roering, age 67 of Twin Valley, MN, passed away December 3rd, at Sanford Hospice House, Fargo, ND, with her loving family by her side.
Cindy was born July 3rd, 1958, in Chicago, IL to Joseph and Rhoda (Kraft) Pantaleo. Cindy was raised in Tinley Park, IL and after graduating from Carl Sandburg High School in 1976 she made her move to Minnesota to attend the University of Minnesota - Crookston. At a party, introduced by some friends, she met Mark Skansgaard. They married in 1979 and had two children, Nicci and Luke. During their childhood and teenage years Cindy devoted herself to her children. She never missed a game or a concert and was always making sure that not only them, but often their friends, were taken care of. It was during this time she was a deacon in Zion Lutheran Church and involved in Women of Today, where she made many lifelong friendships.
In 2007, Cindy married Clayton Roering and they later built their home in rural Flom, MN. Their marriage was filled with many great memories and times with family until his death in 2012 from cancer. It was there, at their quiet spot, that she could enjoy feeding the multiple wildlife that came into her yard, often referring to them as "her pets." She also enjoyed 4-wheeler rides and cemetery tours with her friends Mike and Jennifer.
Cindy was a hard worker. She worked multiple jobs until she landed at United Blood Service, later Vitalant, where she worked for 21 years. She retired shortly before her cancer diagnosis and was looking forward to her first snowstorm, where she could stay home and lavish in the joy of not making the commute to Fargo. Her honesty and strong-willed, yet nurturing, personality is not only remembered by her friends and family, but her co-workers as well.
Although she lived most of her life in Minnesota, Cindy was an Illinois girl at heart, never forgetting the state she was raised in. She was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan. She loved taking road trips back home and going to Cubs games at Wrigley Field. She also held a special place in her heart for the Park Rapids area, especially visiting Dorset and celebrating her birthday there every year.
As much as she devoted her life to her children, she went all in on being a grandma. That was her greatest role, and despite her work schedule, she was present for every single milestone in their lives. From hockey games to volleyball games, choir and band concerts, baptisms to graduations, Grandma Cindy was always there and always cheering them on. There were no rules at her house and she was the silly, fun grandma who made pickle rolls and Better Than Everything cake. She brought all the magic to Christmas and birthdays, and was up for anything that made her grandchildren smile. Cindy was looking forward to being a grandma again, expecting grandchild #6 on February 1st. She especially loved her daughter-in-law Ali, mourned the loss of her son-in-law Jeff, and fully embraced her new son-in-law Jesse. As her family grew, her love only grew.
Cindy is survived by her daughter, Nicci (Jesse), Ogema, MN and her son, Luke (Ali), Moorhead, MN; stepson, Paul (Melissa), Hawley, MN; grandchildren: Hadlie (Cody), Wylie (Brady), Katherine, Kase, Anders, and soon-to-be baby Skansgaard; bonus grandchildren: William and Lilly, Landon and Lane; 2 great-granddaughters, Amelia and Maci; brother, Joe (Barb) Pantaleo; sisters-in-law, Lynee (Lee) Gnoinsky and Lori (Chuck) Urbanek; her first husband Mark; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and her beloved cat Max.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Rhoda Pantaleo; husband, Clayton Roering; son-in-law, Jeff Lunde; and niece, Julia Madoll.
