Cynthia Wilson Obituary

Published by McGhee-Givnish Funeral Home, Inc. on Jan. 11, 2022.
Cynthia Wilson passed away on January 11, 2022. She was 73. Cynthis was born in Philadelphia to the late Helen and Howard Clay. She is survived by her two sons, Dennis and Joe Wilson; and granddaughter, Kristianna Hawks. Cynthia lost her hearing at the age of 2. Living in a hearing world came with many challenges that Cynthia faced with strength, courage and perseverance. Cynthia didn't think of her hearing loss as a disability but rather a culture that she used to inspire those who were fortunate to know her. As you can imagine Cynthia looked at the world much differently than most. Cynthia was a strong woman, often stubborn at times, that faced every aspect of life with selflessness, strength, courage and perseverance. It was these traits that she would instill in her two greatest accomplishments and loves of her life, her sons, Dennis and Joe. While Cynthia's greatest job was being a mother to her two sons (as well as all of the other neighborhood kids) neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night could keep Cynthia away from her third greatest accomplishment. Cynthia spent 31 years as a clerk at the US Postal Service in Bellmawr, NJ. Cynthia retired from USPS in 2018. This might explain a few things regarding the challenges people of South Jersey have had with mail delivery since 2018. While there was nothing Cynthia loved in life more than her son's, her Sheltie, and cats came in a close second. Animals seemed to have taken an instant liking to Cynthia and she to them. While Cynthia couldn't always physically take care of all of the animals that crossed her path she made it a priority to see that they are taken care of. She spent much of her retirement making very generous donations to the SPCA, the Humane Society and Alley Cats. Cynthia was very patriotic and truly appreciated all those who so selflessly served our country by making regular donations to Wounded Warriors. Her generous contributions to multiple charities will surely be missed. Cynthia was truly a champion, especially for those who couldn't champion for themselves. The world is a better place because of her. She was an inspiration to all that were blessed to know her. As Michael Jordon once said "My mother is my root, my foundation. She planted the seed that I base my life on, and that is the belief that the ability to achieve starts in your mind" Relatives and friends are invited to Cynthia's Life Celebration on Saturday, January 22, 2022 from 10:00AM to 12:00PM at McGhee Givnish Life Celebration Home, 690 Belmont Avenue, Southampton, PA 18966. A prayer service will be held at 12 noon. To share your fondest memories of Cynthia and to express your condolences to the Wilson family please visit www.LifeCelebration.com.
