Dakota Jones, 14, of Princeton and Owensville was called home Wednesday, November 12, 2025 at Riley Children's Hospital in Indianapolis, IN. He was born February 14, 2011 in Evansville, IN to Jarrod Jones and Janelle (Morgan) Jones. Dakota was a Freshman at Princeton Community High School and known to his family and friends as "Dewey". He was a proud baptized Christian and attended First Christian Church in Owensville, IN. He had a kindhearted soul that enjoyed helping people, even when it wasn't expected. Dakota liked spending time sketching and drawing, listening to music, and playing video games. He had a great sense of humor and was known for being a jokester. Dakota loved spending time with his friend's exploring town or watching TV with his family. He was a Minnesota Vikings and Milwaukie Bucks fan. Dakota will be remembered as a true ray of sunshine that was a friend to everyone. He is truly loved by so many and is already deeply missed.

Dakota was preceded in death by his grandparents, Dayna (Parrott) Morgan, Mark A. Jones, and Jan P. Morgan.

He is survived by his father, Jarrod Jones; mother, Janelle Jones (Kevin Truxal); grandmother, Angela Jones; siblings, Savanah Jones, Noah Kress-Jones, Morgan Baehl (Alex), and Kennedy Lankford; niece, Olivia Baehl; aunts and uncles, Leslie Jones, Aaron Jones (Dawn), Rachel West (Eric), Cody Jones (Elizabeth), Jared Morgan, and Julie Morgan; and many cousins.

A funeral service will be held 7 PM Friday, November 21, 2025 at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton with Bart Newton officiating. Visitation will be held 4 PM until the service time at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Colvin Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
