Dale Buschmann Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Trimble Funeral Home - Jefferson City on Dec. 31, 2025.
Dale Edward Buschmann, 79, of Jefferson City, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, December 30, 2025, leaving behind a distinguished legacy of public service and a profound devotion to his family.

Born on December 14, 1946, in Vienna, Missouri, Dale was the son of Charles Edward and Virginia Mary (Wessels) Buschmann.

On June 7, 1969, he was united in marriage to Beverly Sue Hollis at Visitation Catholic Church in Vienna, beginning a 56-year journey of love and partnership.

Dale was enlisted in the United States Army Reserve from July 1966 – July 1971.

Dale's professional life was defined by his 30-year career with the Missouri State Highway Patrol, which began on February 1, 1968. He initially served Troop C in Kirkwood for 26 years, rising through the ranks to become Captain and Commanding Officer of Troop C in 1988. In 1994, he was promoted to Major and served as Commander of the Administrative Services Bureau at General Headquarters in Jefferson City until his retirement in 1999. Dale founded the first Special Emergency Response Team for Troop C and was a graduate of the U.S. Secret Service Dignitary Protection School and the FBI National Academy.

Beyond his professional accolades, Dale's true north was his family. He was a constant presence at every game, performance, and milestone, offering unwavering encouragement to his children and grandchildren. His commitment to service extended into his community, where he volunteered for the American Cancer Society, the March of Dimes, the Fox Theater, and local church and scout programs. In recent years, he was a dedicated volunteer for Camp Quality of Central Missouri, where he was famously known for his award-winning chili.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly; his children, Nicole Dawn Buschmann and Erik Christopher (Amanda) Buschmann; two grandchildren, Jacquelyn McKenzie and Charles Alexander; his sister, Karen (Ron) Ferkol; and a large extended family of in-laws, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Ronald Charles Buschmann; and brothers-in-law, Terry Hollis and Garry Hollis.

Dale modeled a life of integrity, service, and quiet strength. He will be deeply missed.

Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. Saturday, January 3, 2026, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Matthew Flatley officiating. Burial will be in Visitation Catholic Cemetery in Vienna.

Memorials are suggested to Immaculate Conception Capital Campaign, Visitation Catholic Cemetery, or to Camp Quality of Central Missouri.

I have known Dale for nearly 20 years. He was the finest gentleman you ever want to meet. Most of my association with Dale was through golf. He was also a great golfer. He will be missed by many. Ray Hentges
