DeVries, Dale W. 78, passed away on Monday, Aug. 11th after a prolonged illness. A visitation will be held on Sunday, Aug. 17th from 2-4pm at the Washburn-McReavy New Brighton Chapel. A funeral mass will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in New Brighton on Monday, Aug. 18th at 10:30am, with a visitation one hour prior and a lunch reception to follow. Dale was born in Princeton, MN on June 28, 1947; he was the tenth child of Albert and Wilma DeVries. He grew up in Princeton and Pease, MN and later earned a degree in accounting from the UMN Twin Cities. In December 1969, Dale married Mary Ostmoe, and they settled in New Brighton, where they raised their three children. He devoted the majority of his career to bringing new cardiac device technologies to market for patients in need. In retirement, Dale enjoyed traveling, relaxing at his cabin, and spending time with his family. Dale is survived by his loving children Michael (Mary Sue) DeVries, Amy (Matt) Linabery, and Joel (Katie) DeVries; grandchildren Theodore and Thomas DeVries, Peter and Sadie Linabery, and Andrew and Lucy DeVries; siblings Marvin (Sharon) DeVries, Clarence DeVries, and Larry DeVries; as well as several siblings-in-law, cousins, nieces and nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his spouse, Mary; parents, Albert and Wilma DeVries; siblings John, Robert, Glen, Gerald, and Lloyd DeVries, and Jean Wark; parents-in-laws Theodore and Jane Ostmoe; sister-in-law, Martha Jarrells; and extended family members. He will be dearly missed by many. In lieu of flowers, any memorials collected will be donated to medical research.
