Dale John Madere, born in St. Rose, LA and resident of Gonzales, LA , passed away on October 26, 2025, at the age of 80. Dale loved time spent with his family. He enjoyed cooking for them and was known for his famous Jambalaya. Dale could build or fix just about anything and was considered a master carpenter. He also loved to go fishing.
Dale is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Eleanor Hurst Madere; children, Shane Madere (Trudy), Dana Engelhorn, John Madere (Stefka); grandchildren, Shane Madere, Jr., Joseph Madere, Mallory Madere (Grant), Dale Engelhorn (Mallory), Michelle Engelhorn Duhe (Justin); great grandchildren, Eleanor June Gibbens, who was born on his birthday, and Rowen Gibbens; brother, Jimbo Madere (Joyce), as well as numerous other family members and close friends.
Dale is preceded in death by his parents, Richard Frank Madere and Vacie Humphreys Duplessis; siblings, Roy Madere, Ralph Madere, and Daniel Madere; Son-in-law, Jimmy Engelhorn.
Per Dale’s wishes, a private service to celebrate his life will be celebrated by the family at a future date.
In Lieu of Flowers, donations can be made in Dale’s honor to St. Jude’s’s Children’s Research Hospital.
The family would like to thank the staff of Church Funeral Services, including their funeral director, Devon, for the care and compassion they showed Dale’s family during their time of need.
