Dale E. Routon, age 79 of Routon, passed away Monday, November 3, 2025, at his residence. His funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at 2:00 PM at McEvoy Funeral Home, with Pastor Doug Teft of New Beginnings Ministry officiating. Burial will follow in Bevil Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday, November 7, 2025, from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at McEvoy Funeral Home, and again after 12:00 PM on Saturday, prior to the service. Pallbearers for Mr. Routon will be Marvin Klophenstien, Guy Hammonds, Adam Walker, Carl Tanner, Lonnie Forrest, Joel Taylor, Darwin Webster, and Randy Anderson.
Dale E. Routon was born on April 5, 1946, to the late Elbert Haymes and Tommy Simpson Routon. On July 6, 1968, he married Sandy Routon, and she survives in Routon.
Dale graduated from Henry High School in 1964 and attended UT Martin. He joined the United States Marine Corps in 1966 and did a tour in Vietnam. He was in the National Guard and retired in 1996 with 29 years of service. He was a member of the VFW Post 1889 in Paris. Dale was a member of New Beginnings Ministry in Big Sandy. He was a plumber and electrician for many years. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, and fishing, and he was an avid reader.
In addition to his wife, Dale is also survived by his sons: Jay (Melanie) Routon of Henry and Tad (Anna) Hathaway of Billings, MT; grandchildren: Christopher Lowry, Erin Lowry, and Taylor Hathaway; and great-grandchildren: Amora Stigall and Meadow Rose Lowry.
Besides his parents, Dale was also preceded in death by his daughter, Cindy Routon Lowry, and his sister, Clara Evelyn Routon Hart.
Memorials for Mr. Routon may be made to the American Cancer Society, Mid-South Division, at 2935 Hwy 45 Bypass, Jackson, TN 38305.
