Mary Evelyn Routon, a beacon of faith and love, departed this earthly life on August 24, 2025, at the age of 80, in Sparta, Missouri. Born on October 4, 1944, in St. Joseph, Missouri, to George and Lenora Leaverton, Mary grew to embody the virtues of compassion and creativity that touched all who knew her.

Mary's journey through life was one of unwavering devotion to her family and her faith. She was a cherished wife to her beloved husband, Delbert Routon, for an inspiring 64 years. Together, they built a legacy of love and commitment that will continue to flourish in the hearts of those she leaves behind. Mary's life was marked by the joyous laughter of children, from her own to the many generations that followed.

She was the nurturing mother to Elizabeth (Tommy) Evans, Timothy (Dedra) Routon, and Angela Weter. Mary's legacy extends to her grandchildren Amber, Erica, James (Sammi), Mark (Michelle), Renee, Travis (Lucy), Josh (Courtney), Brittany, Jaden (Madrical), Evelyn (Braegan), and Blake. Her life was further enriched by the smiles and wonder of her 20 great-grandchildren. Mary also leaves behind her loving sisters, Helen and Kate, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members who were blessed by her presence.

While Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her brother George Leaverton, her son Marvin Lee Routon, Davey "Tiny" Weter, grandchild Jordan, and great-grandchildren Cetine and Theodore, her spirit of giving and teaching remains a guiding light for all who knew her.

A devout Christian, Mary's commitment to her faith was evident in her dedication to teaching Sunday School and Junior Church. She was a loving, faith-filled, and creative soul who found joy in sharing the stories of the Bible, instilling values and wisdom in the young minds she so tenderly nurtured. Her teachings, rooted in love and kindness, will continue to resonate within the community she so dearly loved.

Mary's life was a testament to the beauty of a faith-lived fully. Her creative spark was seen in the crafts she lovingly made, the lessons she carefully prepared, and the thoughtful ways she contributed to her church and community. Her loving nature was the cornerstone of her existence, and her faith was the compass by which she navigated a life of service and grace.

As we bid farewell to Mary Evelyn Routon, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a soul eternally cherished. Her memory will forever be a treasure in the hearts of those who were honored to share in her journey. May her story of faith, love, and creativity continue to inspire us all, and may she rest in the glorious peace of the Lord she so faithfully served.
